Day 1 - April 20, 2008

Day 1 - April 20, 2008

Day 1
April 20, 2002
Morning Dove

This morning I woke up earlier than normal especially since I went to sleep late. I think it was because I kept my window open over night. What that means is I get a lot of light in my bedroom and I do like it dark. Also I live off of a 4 lane road so the road noise started in too. Now I have gotten used to the noise but I think it just added up and I WAS UP.

So I went out and, I know boring, jumped on the computer and checked out what was going on in Flickr land. Now I do my computing from my living room. It faces out a decent sized picture window overlooking my backyard. It is not all that big of a yard as my house only sits on a quarter acre of land but still. The back of the property has a tree line which kind of obscures the view of the neighbors and provides me a fairly peaceful view. The neighbor on my left I hardly see and she is quiet anyway. The neighbor on my left is the There is always squirrels all over the place and birds varying in size from a sparrow to a crow (and sometimes ducks) scooting through the area. Sometimes they even stop to say hi.

This morning I had a visitor that just kept coming back It just would not go away. And then it started to coo also which sounded kind of nice. The bird was a morning dove.

The morning progressed when all of a sudden it dawned on me that might make a kind of nice picture to represent today on my project 365. So the next time it came back (withing minutes) I grabbed my trusty camera and snapped a picture or three. It is shooting through a dirty window and, since I have a clock against my window (don’t ask... well maybe another time) I thought I want to get the clock into the picture to. So I probably will be doing some photoshopping on the picture but there you have it, my day 1 picture. Could I come up with something better for the day. You know I probably could as I have three things in mind to do. One is a trip to the local farm market. Now while on the surface that sounds busy, I think some pictures of the fruit stands or possibly the flowers might be interesting.

So now that is 1 day down, 364 to go. What on earth am I going to be taking a picture of tomorrow? I hope I make it through the day. I am not sure if I will be blogging this or just doing a Flickr thing for project 365 so, if you are interested, you can always check my Flickr account here for the latest misadventures.

I believe a visit from a Morning Dove is a special treat. I just remember my Grammy telling me they mate for life - and how special I thought it was - (seeing how animals can be a bit slutty.) -

Thanks for sharing - I'll check back soon to see if you've posted anything else.

very nice...just yesterday some doves were on the ground in my backyard picking at seeds that fell from the bird feeder. I just love those doves and the sound they make. My Black Lab Frisco loves them too...he kept wanting me to open the door. I only let him chase them 2x. They had to eat! And coo...
