Day 1 - April 20, 2008

Day 1 - April 20, 2008

Day 1
April 20, 2002
Morning Dove

This morning I woke up earlier than normal especially since I went to sleep late. I think it was because I kept my window open over night. What that means is I get a lot of light in my bedroom and I do like it dark. Also I live off of a 4 lane road so the road noise started in too. Now I have gotten used to the noise but I think it just added up and I WAS UP.

So I went out and, I know boring, jumped on the computer and checked out what was going on in Flickr land. Now I do my computing from my living room. It faces out a decent sized picture window overlooking my backyard. It is not all that big of a yard as my house only sits on a quarter acre of land but still. The back of the property has a tree line which kind of obscures the view of the neighbors and provides me a fairly peaceful view. The neighbor on my left I hardly see and she is quiet anyway. The neighbor on my left is the There is always squirrels all over the place and birds varying in size from a sparrow to a crow (and sometimes ducks) scooting through the area. Sometimes they even stop to say hi.

This morning I had a visitor that just kept coming back It just would not go away. And then it started to coo also which sounded kind of nice. The bird was a morning dove.

The morning progressed when all of a sudden it dawned on me that might make a kind of nice picture to represent today on my project 365. So the next time it came back (withing minutes) I grabbed my trusty camera and snapped a picture or three. It is shooting through a dirty window and, since I have a clock against my window (don’t ask... well maybe another time) I thought I want to get the clock into the picture to. So I probably will be doing some photoshopping on the picture but there you have it, my day 1 picture. Could I come up with something better for the day. You know I probably could as I have three things in mind to do. One is a trip to the local farm market. Now while on the surface that sounds busy, I think some pictures of the fruit stands or possibly the flowers might be interesting.

So now that is 1 day down, 364 to go. What on earth am I going to be taking a picture of tomorrow? I hope I make it through the day. I am not sure if I will be blogging this or just doing a Flickr thing for project 365 so, if you are interested, you can always check my Flickr account here for the latest misadventures.

Project 365

Over the weekend I saw someone participating in Project 365 on Flickr and wondered what it was. So I checked into it a little bit.

What they are asking is that for 365 days in a row you take one or more pictures and post one picture that represents that day. What they say you should look for are unique pictures so that when you look back on your collection of pictures it brings back the memory of that day. Here is a link to the actual project 365 on Flickr if you would like to check it out.

Now I though this sounded like a fun little thing to do, only one problems however. You see I was sitting here thinking what do I do. I eat, drink, sleep, shower, and go to work. Well sometimes I do go to the Detroit area to be with family and see what my niece is up to but that is it.

Well in truth I do have a rather boring life but I actually do more than I realize, at least I hope I do. People that do well at this also say it changes things for them. They carry a camera with them everywhere. They are always looking at something to see if they can see it in some different way. They also say they learned from others pictures they have posted and even got tips from people. It all sounds like an interesting thing and a fun way to promote photography. So I thought I would give it a try. Will I make it a day (well I have the picture for today), or a week, or a month, or will I go all the way? Time will tell.

I thought I would create a separate blog and cross post my pictures for anyone on Blogger if you are interested. Also you can go to my Flikr account or my Flickr 365 collectiion. Just look on the links on the side.
